Reminiscent of years gone by, this special event celebrates Sinterklaas, the benevolent St. Nicholas. In true Dutch folk tradition, Sinterklaas arrives each December on his great white horse, surrounded by the mischievous Zwarte Piets, who bring candy to all of the children.

Sinterklaas will arrive at the Eight Street Market Place, home of the Holiday Kerstmarkt, and lead a procession of young and old alike east on 8th Street to Central Avenue and then to Centennial Park. At Centennial Park, the mayor will officially “welkom” Sinterklaas to Holland. After Sinterklaas greets the crowd, everyone is invited across the street to the Holland Museum to meet him in person and enjoy cookies and hot chocolate.
