Music and Lyrics by Cole Porter
Genius songwriter Cole Porter meets genius playwright William Shakespeare in this rollicking front and backstage battle of the sexes. While Kate and Petruchio war onstage during a Broadway tryout of a musical Taming of the Shrew, the formerly married couple playing them take the battle into the dressing rooms.
Throw in bad bets on the ponies, stagestruck singing gangsters, a candidate for Vice President, and we’re all in for a most delicious theatrical stew. Winner of the very first Tony Award for Best musical in 1949, the NY Times called the 1999 revival ’ . . . one long ear to ear grin.’
Admission: $8-26
