Enjoy a Self-Guided Color Tour
Take some time to wander the Lakeshore and view some of nature’s spectacular color. For information on the timing of Michigan’s fall colors, click here.
Here are two suggested routes in the Holland area:
Tour #1
From River Avenue, turn west onto Douglas Avenue/Ottawa Beach Road to Mt. Pisgah dune climb or Holland State Park for a view of Lake Michigan and Big Red. Backtrack one mile to 168th Avenue and turn north, then turn west onto Lakeshore Drive. Continue north on Lakeshore Drive to M-45 . Turn east onto M-45 and continue to 120th Avenue. Turn south onto 120th Avenue. Detour west less than 1 mile on Stanton Street to Pigeon Creek Park for hiking or continue south to Blair Street. Turn west onto Blair Street to the Berry Bunch farm market (13885 Blair Street). Turn south onto US 31 to visit the Harvest Antique Mall (US 31 at James St) or the Wooden Shoe Antique Mall (443 US 31).
Tour #2
Begin at DeGraaf Nature Center (600 Graafschap Road) for a short hike. Continue south on Graafschap Road to Nob Hill Antiques (4585 60th St). Back track to West 48th Street/146th Avenue, turn west and continue to 64th Street. Turn south and continue on 64th Street to the Saugatuck Dunes State Park for hiking and a view of Lake Michigan. Continue south on 64th Street, then turn west onto Blue Star Highway. Continue south to M-89. Turn east onto M-89 and continue to Crane’s Orchard and Pie Pantry Restaurant (6054 124th Avenue). Detour south on 62nd Street to 122nd Avenue to Fenn Valley Winery (6130 122nd Avenue) or continue east to 56th Street and turn north. Continue north to Holland.
