With its 120-foot tower and abundant stained glass, Dimnent Memorial Chapel is a community landmark. Dedicated in 1929, the building is used for worship, all-college assemblies and convocations, and special concerts. The auditorium contains a four-manual Skinner organ and a mechanical action organ built in the Netherlands. The Chapel's tower chimes were restored in 1996. They deliver the classic "Westminster" peal every 15 minutes during daylight hours. The building was originally named simply Memorial Chapel in honor of all who had supported Hope's growth. In 1959 it was renamed in honor of Dr. Edward D. Dimnent, Hope's fifth president.

Reminiscent of years gone by, this special event celebrates Sinterklaas, the benevolent St. Nicholas. In true Dutch folk tradition, Sinterklaas arrives each December on his great white horse, surrounded by his mischievous Zwarte Piet helpers. The procession begins at the Holland Area Arts Council (150 East 8th Street), following a brief appearance by Sinterklaas, and continues down Eighth Street until it reaches the Eighth Street Market Place, home of the Holiday Kerstmarkt. Take a walk on the wild side at DeGraaf Nature Center. You don't need to drive out of town to get in touch with nature. If you have 20 minutes or 2 hours, you will enjoy exploring the woodland, shrub, marsh and pond trails of this 18 acre preserve located within the city limits of Holland, Michigan. During the winter, if there is 4-6 inches of snow on the ground, you may borrow a pair of snowshoes and explore the trails. The Brower Interpretive Center is brimming with information and hands-on displays. Many special events are scheduled throughout the year. Visit DeGraaf Nature Center anytime of the year. Look for special events on Saturdays, and stop in to view any number of environmental films for free.
